Order of Omega was founded at the University of Miami (FL) in 1959 by a group of outstanding fraternity men, who felt that individuals in the Greek community should be recognized for their service to the fraternity community and the University.



The Omicron Rho Chapter at Lynn University was founded January 30, 1996. The purpose of the Order of Omega Chapter at Lynn University is to identify and honor the outstanding members of the Greek community who go above and beyond for their Greek Community and individual organizations. These recognized students show excellence in Leadership, Service, Academics, and an above average understanding of what it means to be a member of the Greek Community.

Every Spring we welcome a new class of Greek Life members to the Order of Omega. Keep a look out for when applications open!

In 1898, stepping out on a path from Farmville, Virginia, eight young women away from home and family, found each other and began their journey in friendship. These women shared a special bond as friends who regarded each other as sisters. Reaching out to others who joined them on the journey, together, they established a sisterhood called Sigma Sigma Sigma. We find friends within the bonds of Tri Sigma and we regard these friends as sisters. As we enter into a state of being Sisters, we become a Sisterhood. Tri Sigma friendships are built around our core values of faith, hope, love, wisdom and power.

Tri Sigma believes in outreach within our communities. As a dedicated, caring Sorority, we aim to serve those in need. Many of our efforts revolve around our commitment to “Sigma Serves Children,” as chapters engage in a variety of efforts for the betterment of children around the world. Even more, Tri Sigma’s philanthropy supports hospital play therapy programs for children.

Tri Sigma is focused on advancement and success and we offer valuable leadership and personal development experiences throughout the lifetime of a member. All programming is based on our fundamental mission of establishing a perpetual bond of friendship, developing strong, womanly character and impressing a high standard of conduct.

Coat of Arms:
Designed by Harriet Hankins, Alpha, Tri Sigma's coat of arms was adopted in 1902. Each symbol has ritualistic significance which is revealed to members following their initiation.

Badge:
Adopted in 1903, the badge of the sorority is an equilateral gold triangle, with a small semicircular indentation on each side. Reflective of the Triangle Degree—Tri Sigma’s second degree of membership—it is worn only by initiated members. The new member pin, designed by Lucy Stubbs, Alpha, is a concave triangle within a circle. Each corner of the triangle contains a Sigma.

Jewel:
Although not official until 1909, the pearl has been our designated jewel since our founding.

Flower:
The official flower is the purple violet, as they were in bloom in Farmville at the time of our founding. Additional accents were added to the official brand palette in 2017.

Colors:
Royal purple and white, adopted in the 1902 Constitution, serve as our official colors. Until that time, the colors were moss green and violet.

Symbol:
Adopted as the official symbol at the 1974 Convention, the sails must always appear full to represent an empowered sisterhood always moving forward.

Mascot:
The skull & crossbones, which appears on our member badge, is Tri Sigma’s official mascot.

Theta Phi Alpha is a nationally recognized sorority that was founded in 1912 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

It was founded at Lynn University on April 30, 2013.
